House Rules & User Manual
Welcome aboard The Floating Terrarium. Before you start your adventure, please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the following guidelines and information to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Rules:
- Boat Movement: You are not permitted to move the boat. Please enjoy the scenic views from the comfort of your moored boat.
- Lights: Turn off all lights when leaving the boat to conserve energy.
- Security: Use both coded locks on the front door and hatch to secure the boat when not aboard, ensuring its safety.
- Glass Policy: No glass outside the boat. Plastic cups and plates are provided for your convenience.
- Water Quality: Tap water is drinkable, and carbon-filtered water is provided for your first night’s stay.
- Party Guidelines: This is a serene place and parties are not allowed. Please keep it cute and chill. No loud music after 11 p.m. and 7 or 8 a.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. or midnight until 8 to 10 a.m. on Sundays and holidays. Please follow the quiet times as complaints Complaints may result in additional charges
Fire Exits and Extinguishers:
Fire exits are located at both ends of the boat; please use the steps at the stern to exit out the back doors of the vessel.
If you require a fire extinguisher, one is located within the electrical cupboard on the right-hand side of the stairs.
In case you are unable to access these doors, please make your way to the bow of the boat and open the centre window by releasing the bolt, pull the window towards you and through.
A secondary extinguisher is located under the sink.
Upon arrival your host will remind you of the available exits and show you where the extinguishers are located.
Carbon Monoxide Detector
The Carbon Monoxide alarm is located in the stern on the astroturf wall.
Storage:
- Guest Cupboard: Located to the left of the stairs in the entrance (stern), for storage and clothes.
- Extra Storage: Available in the bench opposite the entrance stairs.
Kitchen Appliances:
- Fridge/Freezer
- Kettle
- Toaster
- Air Fryer
- Induction Hob
- Wine Rack (next to the fridge)
Note: Air fryer and induction hob are located in the cupboard under the sink. Plug into a socket on the counter for use.
Note: Some drawers are for show; do not force open small drawers on the right side of the sink.
Bathroom Appliances:
- Shower
- Sink
- Compost Toilet
Toilet Usage:
- There are two holes; Liquids in the front and solids in the back.
- Do not put toilet paper down the toilet; use the black bin provided.
- Use the lever on the right side to engage the modesty hatch and cover the solids hole when not in use.
- Press the small black button on the left side for composting (flush). Only use for solids, not liquids.
- Liquids are decanted into a 5litres container, if the blue light on the left hand side of the toilet turns on, this means the receptacle is full and needs to be changed over.
- Two options: please contact your host. OR if you are able to change the container over yourself, you will find a placement under the sink. Lift all three toilet seats up, screw the lid on the full container, lift out and put onto the back deck, insert the new container and lower the seats then you’re all good to go.
- Overflown toilet will incur a charge of £50.
Shower:
- Water will not drain naturally; use the switch on the right side of the sink to activate the whale gulper.
- Turn on water after hearing the gulp sound. Switch off when done.
Heating and Water:
- Eco temperature is set at 14 degrees, monitored by the Nest system. Please let me know if you request a specific temperature on arrival and I will increase or decrease it remotely from the app.
- The Kabola system provides instant hot water so no need to worry about running the tap for too long.
- If the boiler fails, use the button in the electrical cupboard with host guidance. *please refer to image guide below
- Water tank levels are accessible via the screen within the electrical cupboard, the 500L tank is located under the bed and will be topped up before your stay.
Electrics:
- Victron Connect account monitors system status which I can access remotely via the VRM system .
- Ensure the boat is never below 33% charge by checking the screen within the electrical cupboard.
- In summer we use solar panels; in winter, we will connect to mains power.
